July at the ......

Welcome to Our Gardens
Daily - Dawn to Dusk

This month we feature our Stout Award Winning Day lilies in the Daylily Garden, as well as throughout the Arboretum. The Stout Medal is the most distinguished honor given to a daylily. We have the complete collection chronologically planted from 1950. Notice the shorter stature with wider, flatter and less trumpet-shaped blooms in the more recent winners. Flower details as ruffled edges, unusual color patterns and doubling have also become more prominent.

The Castorbean (Ricinus communis) is the Plant of the Month. Read more about this very unusual plant posted to the left and view the Castorbean in the Mercy Hospice Herb Garden.

If the weather is warm on your visit, venture into the hosta glen named a National Display Garden by the American Hosta Society - for shade and the opportunity to see all of our new additions.

Tours on weekends at 2 pm Saturday and Sunday will be available by volunteer docents. If you have a group of twenty or more, free tours may be arranged at other times by calling The Arboretum.
