Heartland Collection of Garden Conifers

This collection of garden conifers is considered one of the finer collections in the Midwest. Here you'll view over 600 accessions of conifers consisting of 14 different genera hardy in the USDA Hardiness Zones 4a to 6a. This collection is well labeled with both the botanical and common names. A special feature is that it contains three naturally occurring witches' brooms and features over 100 one-of-a-kind witches' brooms. This collection has year-around interest and guide booklets are available for self-guided tours. The overview of this collection is inspiring because of its combinations of shape, texture, and color in free form beds. Special viewing times are the months of May and June when new growth appears.
