Butterfly Garden Dedication

On September 8, 2006, the Bickelhaupt Arboretum Butterfly Garden was formally dedicated. The Bickelhaupt Arboretum is now an official waystation for Monarch Butterflies as designated by the University of Kansas Entomology Program. The arboretum, one of only four such sites in Iowa and the only public garden so named in the state, is committed to monarch butterfly conservation and helping to assure the continuation of the monarch migration. Members of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors participated in the ceremony. Following the ribbon cutting ceremony Monarch Butterflies were tagged and released by ceremony participants. Photographs of the ribbon cutting and tagging and release are seen below.
