National award winning photographer Jim Messina of Cedar Rapids has
been hired by Pioneer Communications of Des Moines to photograph The Bickelhaupt
Arboretum for an article to appear in "The Iowan Magazine" in 2007.
Working in collaboration with noted writer, Veronica Fowler, they will emphasize
not only the beauty of our Arboretum but also its educational and ecological value to our community.
When asked about the opportunity to photograph at the arboretum, Jim
responded by saying "After shooting professionally for over twenty years, I have come to realize that as an artist and photojournalist I am only as good as the
situations and stories in which I work. Bickelhaupt Arboretum affords
me the welcome opportunity to contribute to telling the story of dedicated
people who have created a visual delight, emotional shelter and
educational resource that benefits all who visit here"
