On July 6, Bill Petsche, the newly-hired Education Director for the Iowa State University Extension Service, visited the Bickelhaupt Arboretum. Mr. Petsche was treated to a walking tour of the arboretum, viewing the various collections and learning about the history of the arboretum. Arboretum volunteers/Master Gardeners met Mr. Petsche at various areas of the arboretum to acquaint him with such assets as the Herb Garden, Butterfly Garden, the conservatory and potting facilities, the education center and library, the Heartland Collection of Garden Conifers, and much more.
Arboretum Director Francie Hill guided Mr. Petsche on the walking tour, which was followed by a meeting with several Master Gardeners to familiarize him with the working relationship the arboretum and the extension service enjoy. The Bickelhaupt Arboretum's staff and volunteers look forward to an enjoyable and productive working relationship.
