The slope on the southwest corner of the residence provides the perfect venue for the Rock Garden. The limestone rocks were delivered in Fall 2004. Next was the removal of the original herb garden. Anamosa wall stone and limestone chips were used to design and rebuild the steps and retaining wall by ROOTS Board member Randy Dykstra from the Heartland Garden. In early May 2005, with the garden design completed, planting was begun. Gary Whittenbaugh, ROOTS Board member advised us on the importance of this new collection. By Spring 2007, there will be 47 different plants in the Rock Garden. The goal of this collection is to show a drought-resistant feature which is important in the future.
